Apple's 'carrier' deals are as important as the iPhone itself.

Sheryl.. I think Nokia has far few models than other manufacturers. They are definitely some of the most advanced. But from the current studies we have on going, manufacturers struggle with figuring out what to make, trust me they are tired of making multiple models, but carriers are dictating to them to carter to multiple persona type users. Carriers have a hand in deciding what we use, thats a perspective I think we're not considering, we assume the phone makers call all the shots.
picture
Alec...is what you mean the ability for all voip clients to speak to each other not unlike traditional telephone services have the ability to speak to each other?
picture
Dan...do you really think that? Maybe I'm just out of the loop but with the number we have....seems to me there are a large number of nokia phones.

The HSBC story re iPhone has been quelled by HSBC personnel.

Dan Rockwell said:
they should do that, but its not up to them, as far as i understand it, and this is based on a study were doing with samsung now, the carrier has alot of influence over the manufactuer

nokia is one of the few manufacters that doesnt make a bazillion models i think they are semi elitst, with apple being the most elite

they did the n95

interesting thought...why do people choose anything other than qwerty? I'm simply curious
picture
Dan Rockwell said:
who commands who, do carriers tell phone makers what to make? or vice versa
picture
well why not 5 different n series and 2 different e series....qwerty versus not?
picture
is it truly a good value to have a bazillion different models?
picture
Why does Nokia not just choose 5 models and simply improve on them annually instead of keep coming out with new models?

there was a news bit yesterday about a Yamaha music phone, see if i can find the link, but makes me wonder if manufacterers are thinking are attempting to build more hardware/specific functionality into the phone vs going software

Can't vouch for the accuracy of the rumour but I read that HSBC are placing a significant order. If true perhaps it is a business phone now.

What sort of timeline are we looking at before it becomes considered business phone?
