;) Hi Ken.
The convergence we are talkling about (netbook/PC and phone) is not relevant. It's as big a deal as my washing machine convergence with the microwave.

Sorry about that Alex, I'm testing with Tringme but I'm not sure if it is my headset or Tringme that is the problem ... note that I am hearing everything perfectly fine.
FYI Dell has Inspiron Mini 9 on sale today - $199
Safari 4 runs HTML 5 and CSS 3 which is the same as the Pre ... have not seen a real emulator yet. Not sure the SDK is really public
William Volk said:
is there ANY emulator for the Palm Browser
Tim - that sounds good ... We have a cable connection which is 30MB / 5 ... runs about $50/mo
OS X is modern but not new. What the future OS looks like is yet to be seen. I think RIM and Microsoft will have to upgrade to stay current

we have been offered a 'shared' 3g router that reflects out to wifi. 10Gb/Mth by vodafone

I have no idea Todd but now we have abunch of geeks flailing around on a whiteboard
who started the doc sharing?
Brad Jones said:
Which voip choice? Sitofono or Tringme?
Misha said:
to me - all the client devices are just that, clients. The question is what is the universal client software. I kinda doubt it it the browser running on the device
Tim Panton said:
Jim, you are right - 3's handsets use GSM to bridge to skype. Their netbooks +dongle though actively support skype over 3g data.

but that's me

oops we are way off target. the very idea of a convereged single deivce to end this war is an anathema to us as people. It is so very 1984ish. Are we rethinking Henry Ford's Model T in any color you like as long as it's black? I think it's a specious idea that the two can, will or should converge.
just try the regular mic instead ...
NP Misha -- I will clean it up in edit.
Misha said:
sorry guys/gals - i usually dont use a headset, relying on my laptop mike and speakers. Had to borrow a headset from one of my guys
I still disagree that there is not one solution. Don't care what market you're in. There is not ONE solution for every person.
Ken Camp said:
I think we
He's overdriving his microphone.
Everytime Misha talks I get notification from Skype that 'High Sound is Coming from the speakers LOL
assuming a compliant browser
can't get more portable than the web!

this really demonstrates the importance of having a communications device that actually is clearly understood. (Yes, i know about my problem but I'm working on a solution this week)
will do
Alwaysoncarl said:
Alec you should talk about the presentation layer view
thanks Carl.
Alwaysoncarl said:
have to run, but will look at this later
will android make it to the MID/ netbook?
Jim Courtney said:
3 uses the voice channel for Skype; it's not a VoIP client on the device.
Alwaysoncarl said:
what is the voice capability?
Tim Panton said:
My perception is that the majority of netbooks in europe are shipping with 3G from mobile operators on a monthly data plan.
the old PDA's were capable...it really is about getting all of what people need into a form factor that works for a 'phone' user
Carl - you're banging on the table I think...
Ken Camp said:
I'm not sure I even agree there is a battle or will be. There are min-skirmishes ahead in ecosystem areas. I don't see any reason for or driver for a battle. I think the battle is nothing but spin.
Computes is a big word. We already have phones that you can use docs on. Excel, Word, etc.
great - will unmute you shortly.
Misha said:
i'm off the speaker, on the headset now
