And someone in New York got the same response.

Yep...
Ooooooooooooh! That annoys me
Bugger!
Ok Jim it tells me...this content is currently unavailable!
But Sheryl, what happens when you try to access a video?
I used to always watch the coverage but find that the ads are too annoying. Is it the instant information available online that has changed the way I view news?

with handhelds for spot interviews

They are all likely using a shared feed of HD cameras
I am really missing the coverage from CBC as this is my first time back in the US for Olympics
If I thought there was somebody with a high quality camera on site that could deliver stuff to me in a timely fashion, then I'd be complaining about NBC. Until then, not so much.
Yes!
so all we have to do is go online and view the Canadian stuff... :)
Canada does a MUCH better job of coverage for the Olympics
NBC paid $800MM for their rights; CBC paid $45mm and in Canada we get 18 hour/day coverage .... live
Given NBC's huge investment in the Olympics, I don't think we can blame them.
Too much info!
True, very true...
bummer...

some people really do just want to be voyeurs

I muted my phone and it hung up on me.

look at how many people, percentages now, who mute themselves

I mean not platform but a social call...
I guess what I am getting at is that we've developed a kind of social platform
Brilliant
ah that's a GREAT idea frank!
agreed Hudson...
there is a difference between "communication platform" and social network. Calliflower can claim to be the former. It's important to draw the distinction.
I would find that very difficult to follow and what is the reason for all the different social medias anyway? It's to engage a wider variety of friends. If you could get all your friends in one place it would negate the need for the variety of medias anyway

tumblr works as an aggregater
I use netvibes - that's aggregation. I have a personal page that's really loaded up and a public universe with a few tabs. http://www.frankabrams.com (the public one)
Do any of the "aggregation" tools have an economic model? If not, then should we make a committment to them?
I have always taken pictures and sent them immediately to vox and flickr

A good question for discussion is: how has *your* (each of us) blogging changed over time? I know that I, for instance, write fewer actual "blog posts" but they tend to be longer. Meanwhile I twitter all the time.
