'Three' tried really hard with video 4-5 years ago - and faled dismally
James Body said:
Lovely lovely E71!
James Body said:
Qik - in near real time
James Body said:
Ah - here we go - poor mobile bandwidth in the colonies story again.....
James Body said:
Pink - of course - the ability to fine tune the colour balance is absolutely mission critical
James Body said:
So - you would probably love Truphone to add SIP-based video calling to our client functionality then....??
Jim Courtney said:
Is there going to be a special "pink" filter for James?
James Body said:
In order to be successful(to become the default comms hub) the product *MUST* work in all scenarios
@ James Why? You are always so dapper!
My kids are like that
James Body said:
Well - I AM always concerned about MY looks on camera
James Body said:
Whilst t is possible to use handsets (like the Nokia N-series beauties) for SIP-based video calls, making them perform appropriately is not easy - well beyond the capabilities of normal mobile users (NorMobs)
that's funny!
I think most people have no issue after a couple of uses
James Body said:
The fundamental problem with the current range of video handsets is that they are not shipped as configurable for SIP video
I'll get to the mobility questions in a minute.
Jim Courtney said:
Are there any plans for the wireless mobile market. Rogers offers video calling on limited handsets. Biggest problem is finding someone else to call. Can you see doing video across PC's and mobile devices?
William Volk said:
Is Skype's proprietary protocols a significant advantage for them in the real world of corp networks, hotspots etc?
Agreed James
James Body said:
N800 with GoogleTalk based video is a great concept - let down somewhat by the low resolution of the camera on the N800/N810
absolutely
So have Alec and I.
We used our n800's to have video conversations... though not for business
James Body said:
Nokia E17 (with it;s two cameras) works well
James Body said:
Why yes Bill!
William Volk said:
Are people video conferencing on Nokia's advanced handsets
James Body said:
And Skype are proprietary
James Body said:
SIP based - that will be where the problem lies.....
the only thing...no high density that way
I love having mine
James Body said:
It is amazing what a huge difference having embedded cameras in notebooks has made to the useability of video conferencing
William Volk said:
Amazingly, the dot-com crash killed the market for this in the early part of this decade
William Volk said:
FYI: The founder of MyNuMo, Sherri Cuono, ran the company that did the video-town-hall conferences for Swartzenagger when he first ran for gov.
SightSpeed has worked with the Deaf since before 2005
James Body said:
And in use with the deaf community
nope can't
James Body said:
There is a lot of legacy stuff out there in enterprise
James Body said:
Would you like to say something about interworking between IP based video means and legacy (ISDN based) systems?
Good morning Andy. Nice evening? :)

VLIP was before SEESMIC
Hiya Andy!
James Body said:
Stand to - Mr A is on board!

James Body said:
Just need to get a video link into Bill's car....
Sure James. But if you have a problem with SS and firewall...and haven't ADDED me on Skype...we're unlikely. :)
James Body said:

James Body said:
