Call Dashboard

Squawk Box September 15 - Trapster.com Conference call organized by Alec Saunders

Agenda
We'll have Trapster's Pete Tenereillo on the show on Monday morning. Trapster is a social network for reporting speedtraps. Integrating GPS, mobility, the web and social networks, it's a pretty interesting little piece of software.

Ian F. Hood said:
oh THAT's why the cops like it LOL you can slow a whole neighborhood
picture
Ian F. Hood said:
there is a 'physics' limitation to traffic speed relative to 'road capacity' - it's why busy freeways suddenly slow to a crawl
picture
ooooh man!
picture
knock wood...I have never had a ticket. I'd like to keep it that way.
picture
interesting. I found in Germany that the opposite was true.

In the UK speed cameras have become a very lucrative money grabbing scheme for the shadowy 'camera co-partnership' organisations that run them. People here have become very cynical & safety is seen as a secondary issue (sadly).

Why moms?

Ian F. Hood said:
'cause the cops will be on the site setting up false traps LMAO

I can't see any issues in the UK. My TomTom bleeps when I approach a camera. Radar detectors are illegal.

HAHA! Ken NEEDS this!

Georgia (not the one invaded by Russia - though they may too. who knows) used to be famous for speed traps.

I got my three worst tickets in and around Ottawa. Where were you 15 years ago? They took my radar detector, tricked me and possibly broke the law to take several hundred dollars from me and make sure that my insurance cost a boat load during the end of my teenage years.
