not sure where the noise was coming from, but it's good now. Mute on the phone doesn't always elminate all noise.

Rogers just installed fiber to our neighbourhood cable head last week and have laid some fibre beyond along the curb.

Bruce Telecom is installing fibre to the 1200 homes in Southampton, Ontario. This is an internally financed projects (by a 100 year old independent telco) and will offer basic cable TV (with 8 HD channels), local telco, 1000 min LD and 5 Mpbs Internet for $99 per month. No government intervention; 13 rural independent telcos in s.w. Ontario are doing this. Within two years, they expect to have fiber to the farm.
