Call Dashboard
Squawk Box September 22 Conference call organized by Alec Saunders
Agenda
Sandisk has announced a new initiative called Slot Music - music prepurchased on an SD card. Available in stores, you simply plug these memory cards into your phone or PC, and play the music. A good idea? Or are they simply jumping onto the deck of the Titanic called the music distribution industry.

And a new study by Universal McCann says that consumers now trust social networks and strangers more than brands. It's an interesting read. We'll pick through that at 11 AM.
See all

So clearly one will trust ones social network over the big marketing surrounding a brand
Agree with you James.
James Body said:
I can believe this - the diference between a commercial brand and a social network is that the former is a mechanism for making money, the latter is all about individuals that are friends and that you trust
Phil Wolff said:
social networks ARE brands

Promotional thumbdrives are de facto standard give aways these days
James Body said:
If I was faced with a choice between two flash card products, identical in all ways including price, but one with extra 'content' pre-loaded - I would undatably choose the one with 'extras'. I am a sucker for buying the Sunday newspapers with free DVD, even though I only ever watch a small proportion of those I collect...
