thanks, Mike
@Phil: It's showing for me. Give it maybe a little bit more time, if it's still not appearing if you could let me know I'll chat that up as that's really important for me.
I'm a Skype fan
Steve - we are up for the challebge - Ed Guy is revved up and ready to get engineering!
Mike, I've had it for more than 24 hours and I still don't have the feedback button.
James: There's a huge opportunity for 3rd party development with Skype For Asterisk. It will be interesting to see what people build with the 4.0 client on the desktop and SFA on the server.
ha!
Skype for the iPhone?<br/>
:-)
We usually have to wait for the recording to stop to hear James' snarky comments.
he must have been into the pink drinks...
remarkable
Whoa... Body actually *speaks* on a Squawk Box call!
Q. Will there be a 3.9 release?
Q. What features did you try to get into this release that slipped?
I do wish Skype would break out statistics for revenue sources.
Dare I ask why hardware phones don't support linux?? I have to have an xp machine just for my handset
Not just Asterisk users - also those who will use Asterisk to get into Skype
Q. Is there a way to restore the feedback button in 4b2?
I anticipate they will, Steve!
Steve - that would be great to see. :-)
Just wait. Asterisk users will make up a serious portion of the revenue.
except for anti-virus software. We don't pay for it
Quantity has a quaility all of it's own
Hudson - Yes, you're right, many Mac users *are* probably more in the "power user" camp and would probably NOT be thrilled with a full-screen version.
It's hard to hold up to your ear
I would love to run video conferencing between my Mac and a 3G mobile handset
Dan - I use Skype on my Mac as my preferred mode of communication - being able to look someone in the eye whilst discussing complex issues really does assist comprehension
Contrary to reputation, Mac users are in many ways increasingly oriented to power; power users. Will they therefore be even less enthused about the big-screen GUI?
NP.
@thanks for muting me, loggedined from laptop with speaker on
James - I'm a dual-user, too... I run Windows in VMware or Parallels on my Macs... but the place where I use Skype all the time is my Mac.
@ Alec ty for muting me, I had skype'd in without the browser open
I'm a dual user to - I run Windows and Linux on my MacBook Pro
todd - what is the headset you're using?
indeed!
(A bit funy to be talking about the benefits of high quality audio - using narrow band grotty audio!)
Mike - can you get a bit closer to the microphone
Hard to hear Mike.
What we would like to see is seamless interworking between Skype and other IP based services/applications. Keeping Skype as a closed community is somewhat limiting. We all love Skype and use it extensively, but there are certain areas in which Skype does not quite get to - and for these scenarios it would be great to use another non-Skype application
Polycom has shown at shows that you have to experience HD Audio to understand its value.
I don't think people can understand the power of wideband until they actually *experience* it.
I wish I could add people to a call, both PTSN and Skype
very good point, Hudson.
Good point.
It seems beta testers are pre-disposed to get some paid services. So you could easily have been fooled by results that indicate 4.x will promote paid services.
